Building Envelope Improvements for Income-Eligible Multifamily Buildings

Increase Tenant Comfort & Cut Energy Waste – At No Cost to You

If you manage or own a multifamily building serving income-eligible residents, you may qualify for no-cost insulation and air sealing upgrades through energy efficiency programs from ComEd, Peoples Gas, and Nicor Gas.

These building envelope improvements significantly reduce energy waste, improve indoor comfort, and extend the life of your heating and cooling equipment—all while being fully funded by your local utility providers.

What's included in the Program?

  • Air Sealing – Caulking and sealing cracks, gaps, and penetrations in walls, ceilings, and around plumbing.

  • Attic Insulation – Blown-in insulation added or upgraded to reduce heat loss through the roof.

  • Wall Insulation – Dense-pack or spray foam insulation to improve thermal performance.

  • Weatherstripping & Door Sweeps – To seal gaps around windows and doors.
